Living in the exuberant natural beauty of the Osa Peninsula my need to paint re surfaces ...

The magestic rainforest trees and the inspiring lifestyle of the Costa Rican campesino, were the recurrent themes of my paintings during this period. 

I started painting almost like a child, human beings are stick figures.  I would paint in a very simple primitive style mostly using only 4 colors.

During this period I explored some types of ancient painting such as those from Persia and Egypt. Typical of this period is the integration of the homemade frames as part of the painting.

I evolved rapidly from this primitive style towards a search for greater depth and an exploration of light and shadow, which can be observed during the last paintings of this period.
